About the Research Project
Phase 1
In late 2021, the De Pree Center began its investigation into mentoring with an exemplar study. We interviewed 19 individuals aged 50 and over who were nominated for being exemplary mentors. We wanted to understand their experiences with mentoring.
Phase 2
In May 2022, we conducted a survey among Christians aged 18-49 to learn about their mentoring experiences. 244 individuals met the survey criteria and completed the survey.
Research to Resources
At the De Pree Center, we aim to turn the findings from our research into resources for real life. We have been prototyping and testing several resources such as our Alongside Mentoring Class, a mentoring skills workshop, and a mentoring guide centered on values. Lead researcher Meryl Herr has also written the following articles that have drawn upon the findings:
